Taunton Junior Young Musician

Congratulations to Year 6 specialist musician Poppy who was awarded the title of Taunton Junior Young Musician for her violin performance at the recent festival, receiving a significant financial award and a large trophy. Poppy was also awarded the Westlake Cup for achieving the highest marks at the festival, which included her entries in both the Strings and the Woodwind categories. As further strings to her bow, Poppy has also been selected for the fifth consecutive year for the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra, this year as an oboist; and she was awarded Best British Violinist in The Grand Prize International Virtuoso Competition on her violin. Poppy has been asked to perform at an awards ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room on 28th March. Poppy is pictured with Taunton Festival adjudicator and Old Wellensian, Kevin Duggan.
