Sponsored Bike Ride for Sierra Leone

Raising money for the Sierra Leone Project

The group travelling to Sierra Leone in October devised ways of fundraising over the summer. It costs £150 to send one child to the Ballanta Academy of Music for a year to pay for all their tuition and exam fees, so that was Year 13 student Patrick’s initial target. He planned a sponsored bike ride, starting from Langport, along the River Parrett and through villages on the Levels. Patrick and his riding buddy were fortunate that the bikes were loaned to them free of charge by Parrett Trail Bikes. In total over £300 was raised, which will enable two children to go to school in Sierra Leone. Thank you to those who sponsored Patrick and for the community’s continued efforts to help the team raise money for the Sierra Leone Project. If you would like to enable more children to go to the Ballanta, or to support Freetown in the rebuilding effort after the August mudslides which killed hundreds of people, please do not hesitate to donate, via the Wells Cathedral School Foundation, to Jules Desmarchelier’s page at the address below: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/julie-desmarchelier Thank you all for your support!
