DESCRIPTION:If music is your passion\, see what life is like for a Specialist Musician at Wells\, the only UK school that offers a government-recognised specialist music programme within an all-round school. You will find out what it really means to focus on your music and gain a proper insight from our pupils. These days are aimed at pupils who have a real passion for music and have already reached a certain level of proficiency (not beginners). SUMMARY:Wind Ensembles Day in Partnership with the Royal College of Music
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an exciting\, fun day of ensemble playing\, workshops and more in our state of the art performance venue\, Cedars Hall. World class tutors from Wells Cathedral School Woodwind Department will be joined by ‘The Ashton Ensemble’ from The Royal College of Music and RCM Head of Woodwind\, Marie Lloyd.  The day will include workshops and coached ensembles to develop your playing\, masterclasses\, conservatoire audition advice and an informal concert at the end of the day. There will also be trade stands from John Packer Woodwind\, Rosetti\, Vandoren\, Protec Cases and K&M stands.The RCM woodwind department is one of the foremost trainers of the next generation of woodwind players. Our students are highly regarded within the music industry for not just their performance skills but their wonderfully professional and collaborative characters. The department is vibrant and energised and passionate about training future generations of musicians.

DESCRIPTION:Our Spring Be a Specialist for a Mathematician Day event (open to pupils currently in Years 5 and 6) offers a taste of life as a specialist mathematician where participants enjoy a variety of activities similar to what they would experience as part of the Specialist Mathematics scheme here at Wells. We would then make a recommendation about next steps based on whether we feel that you would be suitable for this enrichment programme.I went to BAMFAD with my friends to see what it would be like if I were to become a Specialist Mathematician in Year 7. I think it’s a great way to learn challenging (but very fun) maths\, as well as a chance to meet new people who also love maths as much as you do. DESCRIPTION:If you would like to experience a day in the life of a Chorister\, please come along to this fun day\, during which children aged 6 – 9 years old are invited to spend a day at Wells Cathedral. The experience includes singing games\, learning about the cathedral and finding out what a Chorister really does. Refreshments are provided for the children and parents are invited to have afternoon tea before the Evensong service.Families are encouraged to also attend our 2026 Autumn Open Morning (10.00am-1.00pm) if they have not attended an Open Day before.
