Kelly Fairey, Head of Key Stage 1I’ve been at this fantastic school for many years now. I was first employed as an NQT and love it so much that I have never left. This school truly has so much to offer for everyone, but most importantly the children. I was drawn to the family and community feel and have been fortunate enough to be heavily involved in this in many ways – not only through teaching, but representing the Junior School on the PA and also having my own children who attend the school. Alongside this, the child-centred approach, creative curriculum and inspiring environment helps us to nurture each individual to allow them to fulfil their potential.
My current role as Head of Key Stage 1 involves me overseeing the day-to-day running of the department, looking after the children’s pastoral needs as well as ensuring a rich and broad curriculum is delivered. The transitional years from EYFS through to KS2 are incredibly important, and I believe these are the key times in a child’s journey that build the foundation for the rest of their lives. With a particular passion and expertise in Maths, Computing and PE I also co-ordinate and work in close partnership with the heads of these subjects in the Junior School. Outside of school, I have been fortunate enough to be able carry on with my love of sports and badminton in particular, where I continue to compete at both county and national levels.
