Pete Harrison, Bassoon

Pete studied at the Royal College of Music with Kerry Camden and Geoff Gambold. He went on to follow a busy freelance career playing with orchestras in the UK and abroad including playing extensively in London’s West End.

He has always taught throughout his career – he currently teaches at The Royal Academy of Music Junior Department. Past jobs include Kent Music School, The British Army (Pirbright), Wiltshire Music Service, East Sussex Music Service and the Purcell School. Regular tutoring and coaching include the National Youth Wind Ensemble, National Youth Wind Orchestra, Somerset County Youth Concert Band and the Kensington Symphony Orchestra.

Pete also does a lot of conducting work both in the UK and overseas. He works regularly with Wells Cathedral School Symphony Orchestra and the Junior Academy Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia. He is a regular guest conductor and presenter with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and for the concert promoter Raymond Gubbay.

He was recently appointed Musical Director for both Inspiration Choir Southampton (partnered with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra) as well as The Vinyl Orchestra.

Orchestral Management work for Musical Coordination Services Ltd includes looking after the players in various West End and touring shows and booking players for session work.
