Particle Physics Masterclass

Particle Physics Masterclass

On Tuesday 15 sixth form physics students had the opportunity of taking part in a Particle Physics Masterclass at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratories in Oxfordshire. In the morning the students were given the opportunity to process real data from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and search for the elusive Higgs Boson. In the afternoon the students were given a tour of ISIS (a neutron accelerator). The students relished the opportunity to see the applications of the physics they have been learning in the classroom and to learn about cutting edge developments in physics.
