BURSARIES

We make need-based financial awards (bursaries) to families from a broad range of income levels. However, for our bursary programme to be truly effective and to aid as many deserving families as possible, it is expected that families will make their children’s education a financial priority.

Does Wells seem like the perfect school for your family? If so, please don’t let your family’s finances stop you from finding out more about us. We are committed to helping families to finance their children’s education, and we can work together to try to resolve any financial challenges you might have.

We make need-based financial awards (bursaries) to families from a broad range of income levels. However, for our bursary programme to be truly effective and to aid as many deserving families as possible, it is expected that families will make their children’s education a financial priority.

The goal of our bursary programme is twofold: to attract and enrol pupils from diverse backgrounds; and to offer our unique educational opportunity to deserving pupils whose parents lack the means themselves. Bursaries may take a variety of forms. Examples include a percentage of tuition or boarding fees, a proportion of the difference between tuition and boarding fees, and a fixed sum.

Bursaries are strictly need-based. While the admission and bursary processes at Wells are separate we attempt to notify all new students and their families of our bursary decisions at the same time that we notify them of our admission decisions.

Applying for financial support

Our partners, Bursary Administration Limited, carry out financial circumstances assessments on our behalf. The process includes a home visit where they will view your financial paperwork. They will then send us a report, which is considered by our Bursary Committee.

If you would like us to provide Bursary Administration Limited with your details, please contact our admissions team at 01749 834441 / [email protected] with your request when you register. Bursary Administration Limited will contact you to talk you through the process and make arrangements to visit your home at a time that is convenient to you. They will also let you know the documentation they will need to see during their visit.

Please remember that we also award a number of scholarships each year to recognise a variety of talents. Scholarships are awarded on merit and are worth up to 10% of tuition fees, apart from music scholarships. Click here to find out more information about our scholarships.
