CCF Biennial Inspection
Reviewing Officer Brigadier Graeme ‘Jock’ Fraser MBE RM, Naval Regional Commander (Wales and Western England) visited Wells on Wednesday for the biennial inspection of the school Combined Cadet Force.
The Brigadier spent the morning with the Army section of the CCF at Yoxter Ranges on the Mendips, where cadets underwent a series of training exercises and activities. The Royal Navy section undertook leadership tasks on the school site; whilst groups of RAF cadets had an early start from Weston-super-Mare, spending the day hiking the 24 miles back from the seafront at Uphill to the school, via the Cheddar, and a lunch of fish and chips!
On his arrival at Wells, the Brigadier was greeting by a Bugler and the CCF Drumline, before touring the Royal Naval section duties on the school grounds.
He then enjoyed lunch with senior cadets, members of the senior management team, and Charlotte Serpis, representing the RAF section. Jayne Obradovic and Ed Leaker also spent time with him talking through their plans for developing the school Marine Band.
Cadets enjoyed a fantastic day of outdoor activities, and it was a pleasure to welcome the Brigadier and his team.
The inspection day followed the CCF Mess Supper the previous evening, where progress and successes of the Contingent were celebrated by cadets and their officers.
