Last Tuesday Sixth Form artists spent the day at Hauser and Wirth in Bruton. It was a very exciting, inspiring and creative day, viewing exhibitions of paintings and installations by Catherine Goodman and Matthew Day Jackson. The pupils experienced drawing workshops in response to the exhibitions, and created their own individual paintings informed by the painterly and expressive visual language of Catherine Goodman’s work. Catherine was artist in residence for the gallery for six months, and all the work displayed was work created during this time. She is interested in the relationship between the figure and the landscape, and the local environment is represented in her work.
