OW Cricket Match
On Sunday 23rd June the school 1st XI took on the Old Wellensians for the final match of the season. This match report was given:
Another close game in the annual OW cricket match against the school: batting first and dodging the showers, the OWs recovered from a wobbly start, with George Laing (32) and Cam Gray (39) steadying the ship either side of lunch. Some late fireworks from Harry Connock (40) and Leo Boot saw us up to 237-7 dec., which we thought would probably be a few too many for the boys to chase.
However, something about this game seems to bring out the best in the boys, and they got off to a flier. Nick Jarman (2-35), Charlie Morgan (2-32) and Dave Masters (0-25) all bowled tightly, but despite the regular falling of wickets the school were always up with the rate, and looked like they would cruise it coming into the last ten overs. Leo Boot (4-22) had other ideas however, and his four quick wickets finished off the match with the boys 17 runs short, meaning the OWs regained the Walt Millier Cup.
