Royal Navy cadets visit HMS Raleigh
In March, 19 Royal Navy cadets visited HMS Raleigh in Torpoint to take part in the Damage Repair Instruction Unit (DRIU) and Fire-Fighting demonstration.
The cadets learnt the techniques used by the Royal Navy to fix any damage to a ship following a missile attack to prevent the ship from sinking. They had to work fast in dark, smoky and very wet conditions! Following this, they were instructed how to put out a number of different types of fire that might happen on board a ship and got to have a go using a fire extinguisher and the large water hose.
A fabulous end to a very busy Term for the Navy cadets!
Thank you to Mr Kurg and Mrs Davies for staffing the trip and to all cadets for making the very early departure time.
