Bigny Cup
We are delighted to share the wonderful success of this year’s Bigny Cup, which has been a true celebration of the incredible acting, musical, and creative talents of our pupils. The performances were exceptional, with each house presenting unique and entertaining interpretations of beloved films.
The evening featured the terrors of Jurassic Park, an uplifting and inspirational Barbie, a creative retelling of Star Wars, the beautiful story of Titanic, The creative and humorous Indiana Jones and the whirlwind adventure of Pirates of the Caribbean. Each house displayed not only superb acting skills but also remarkable musical talent.
Conrad T (Upper Sixth) stood out with his charismatic portrayal of a French character, exhibiting exceptional leadership while bringing both humour and heart to the evening’s storytelling. De Salis House delivered an unforgettable retelling of Jurassic Park, with thanks extended to all the “dinosaurs” who took part! Star Wars was creatively brought to life with imaginative use of props, including green paint, a mixing bowl, and tin foil, making for an ingenious visual display. A special mention must go to them for their brilliant live band, which added so much to their performance.
Our guest adjudicator, the esteemed Edward Bennett, praised the event as “a night of thrills, excitement, and jolly good fun.”
Cedars House won Best Play for their hilarious and brilliant adaptation of Indiana Jones, while Edwards House was awarded Best Preparation and Rehearsal. Shrewsbury House’s well-thought-out and comedic script also received high praise. Plumptre was awarded excellent House Involvement for their inclusion of all House members.
The individual awards were as follows:
- Best Actor: Conrad T (Upper Sixth) and Francesca H (Upper Sixth)
- Best Supporting Actor: Oscar C (Year 11) and Amber P (Year 9)
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Drama Department, boarding staff, all the pupils who organised and performed, Edward Bennett, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the Bigny Cup such a memorable event.
It truly was an evening to remember, and we are so proud of the talent and dedication shown by our pupils.
