Musical Extravaganza
Monday 18th November’s Extravaganza concert was a joyful celebration of music, with pupils of all ages performing side by side in a programme that ranged from Mussorgsky’s A Night on A Bare Mountain to the jazz worlds of Coltrane, Ellington and Miles Davis; with even a little Star Wars along the way from the All-Comers Orchestra. Our three Extravaganza concerts taking place across the academic year are always hugely popular and showcase the enormous variety of music-making at Wells.
As one parent commented: “One of the wonderful things about the Extravaganza concerts is that each and every musician is made to feel special, whether they are at the start of their musical journey or already experienced. It was lovely to see older pupils helping out the younger ones.”
With moving performances from Barbershop and a performance from the newly-formed Cambiata, an ensemble for boys and pupils whose voices are going through natural processes of change, the concert demonstrated that, at Wells, music truly is for all.
