Wells ranked top Sixth Form in Somerset
The Somerset County Gazette ran an article listing the top ten colleges and sixth forms in Somerset using data from the Department for Education. Comparing the county’s 49 colleges and sixth forms, the newspaper revealed the ranking according to the average grade and average points that pupils achieved per A level entry (e.g. a maximum of 60 points were available for a grade A* at A level). Wells Cathedral School topped the list with an average point score of 41.38 and a strong A level B grade.
Sally Rowley, our Head of Sixth Form, comments:
“We’ve always known that the Sixth Form at Wells Cathedral School is a very special place in terms of the firm friendships, shared values and supportive atmosphere. It is really wonderful to see those qualities reflected in our performance at A level. It’s clear that a positive, personal, aspirational environment is crucial in terms of attainment and I’m delighted that the efforts of the pupils and their teachers have been recognised in this way.”
