Bristol Beacon chamber music performances
On Thursday 27th February, pupils from Wells performed in the first of a new series of collaborations with Bristol Beacon, taking place this year. These collaborations will include chamber music performances both in the foyer and as part of pre-concert talks in the Lantern Hall, as well as a partnership with the Beacon working on their ‘Bass Boost’ instrumental initiative. Bristol Beacon has quickly secured a reputation as one of the UK’s leading concert venues, with recent performers including Grammy-award-winning musician Jacob Collier, and we believe that this exciting partnership will be an opportunity for Wells to highlight the superb musicianship that our School develops for new audiences.
On Thursday, two Wells chamber groups performed in the Beacon foyer, playing movements from Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet and Flute Quartet. This preceded the evening concert given by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on the main stage of the Beacon. Audiences were stunned by the quality of our Wells pupils’ performances, with the sound audible throughout both the foyer Bridgehouse stage area, as well as travelling up to the balconies and levels above. With many audience members commenting on the professionalism of both the sound and stage presence of our pupils, we look forward to further visits to the Beacon coming up later this Term.
