National Schools Geology Challenge
Our A level Geologists created a website as their entry to the National Schools Geology Challenge this year, choosing ‘Geology at the movies’ as their theme. You can visit www.geoflix.rocks to see their opinions on some of Hollywood’s finest movies with a geological theme, from Jurassic Park to Deepwater Horizon. The entry saw Will P, Monty, Archie, Will L, Charlie and Olly through to the national final at the Geological Society’s Headquarters in London. Their task in the final was a problem solving exercise analysing asteroids and presenting a plan for how they could be harvested for metallic resources in the future. Though they didn’t win, their teamwork and presentation were impressive and they acquitted themselves very well indeed.
