Double Bass afternoon
On Monday 19th May, Wells celebrated an afternoon of all things double bass!
The afternoon was hosted by our very own Mrs Claire Whitson and Ms Josie Jobbins and involved all of the double bass players from both our Prep and Senior School. The session started with a mass warm up of all 11 players followed by a welcome to their parents. First up were our Prep bassists who all played beautifully. Our Senior pupils, Robert W (Lower Sixth) and George GJ (Year 10), then took the role of teacher for a Prep masterclass slot and developed their own skill set by teaching. The afternoon culminated with our Senior bassists Robert, George, George L (Year 8), Desarie T (Year 10) and Izzy C-N (Lower Sixth), performing a repertoire which included Bottesini, Dragonetti, Koussevitsky and Bach. Everyone should be very proud of their performances. As ever, a huge thank you to our accompanists who provided first class musicianship at this event.
