Classics Competition 2025: results
We were delighted with the number and high quality of the entries in the inaugural Wells Cathedral School Classics Competition. The joint winners in the Junior Category were Lucy W (Year 7) for her sophisticated reworking of the Persephone myth in a modern setting of family life and Freddie C (Year 9) who produced an ambitious modern tale of betrayal and politics based on the complex myth of Meleager. Congratulations go to Wayland W (Lower Sixth), the winner of the Senior Category, who produced a compelling, stark and nuanced re-imagining of the climax of the Iliad, which transported Homer’s heroes of the Trojan War into the brutalities of 20th century trench warfare. Well done to everyone who entered!
