Voices that inspire: Lower Sixth TED Talk evening

The annual Lower Sixth TED Talk Evening was, once again, an exceptionally inspiring occasion. Since September, pupils have met weekly, committing themselves to a process that demands curiosity, creativity and courage in equal measure. At the heart of the programme is the freedom for each pupil to explore a topic that holds genuine personal meaning. This authenticity was evident throughout the evening, as every speaker communicated with sincerity and conviction, speaking from the heart while engaging the audience with confidence and clarity.

Over the months, pupils have invested a tremendous amount of time refining their ideas and shaping initial thoughts into carefully crafted, compelling talks. The result was a series of presentations that were not only informative and highly engaging, but also deeply thought-provoking, each carrying a clear and powerful message that encouraged the audience to reflect more broadly on the world around them.

Dr Mitchell, our Head of Academic Enrichment, said it has been a genuine privilege to work with such a motivated and dedicated group of pupils. Their commitment to the journey, willingness to challenge themselves, and growth in both confidence and communication have been remarkable to witness.

This year’s speakers – Ernest C, Alex M, Susannah H, Rory S, Bill O, Nimue W and Felix O – each brought something unique and inspiring to the evening. The event was a celebration not only of intellectual curiosity, but of individuality, courage and voice. Each pupil should feel immensely proud of what they have achieved, and it is exciting to think how they might continue to use this experience as a platform for even greater things in the future.
