Dr Mitchell’s Wild Workers
Dr Mitchell and her team of “Wild Workers” have been hard at work on Wednesday afternoons at Kingfisher Common. Over the past few weeks, they have mulched trees and plants, planted saplings and begun laying out a new hedge. They’ve also collected leaves for compost, dug trenches for the polytunnel, planted garlic and onions, and prepared dahlia bulbs for the winter.
Pupils have thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors, pulling on their wellies and getting their hands (gloved!) a little muddy. The group is already looking forward to an exciting range of spring and summer projects to come. It has been wonderful to be part of such a vibrant local biodiversity initiative.
