OW talks to Prep pupils about being a large animal vet

As part of the Prep School’s Careers Programme, Years 5 and 6 had a visit from Becky Stott this week who talked to the children about how she became a large animal vet. Becky is an OW (2005) who started at Wells in the Reception class and made her way up through the School, even being taught by our own Mr Wells in Year 6! She discussed the path she took into her current role and described what her day-to-day work involves. She also talked through the learning powers and skills that are important in the role, giving real-life examples of how these are applied. Furthermore, Becky visited Year 4 who have been studying teeth and the digestive system. She kindly brought in a range of animal skulls which the children were able to use their knowledge of different types of teeth to decipher whether they belonged to omnivores, carnivores or herbivores. The children were all fascinated and we thank her for giving up her time to speak to them. The next session in our Careers Programme will see them hear from an inspiring speaker about opportunities in Marketing.
