Year 6 animation workshops
Year 6 spent half a day filming the main scenes of their stop-motion animation projects. During Computing lessons this Term, the children have been learning about how animation has evolved over the years and exploring different animation processes, including stop motion using clay models and action figures.
Working in small groups, they planned their short stories, designed backdrops and created any additional props they needed. Several groups took time to carefully create their own clay models, showing great creativity and attention to detail.
Today, the pupils worked incredibly hard, taking several hundred photographs each in order to create their mini movies. The project required lots of collaboration, steady hands and plenty of patience, with many pupils commenting that it was more challenging than they expected.
The next steps will be to add sound effects, titles, credits and a soundtrack before holding a special ‘movie night’ to watch the finished animations and evaluate their success.
