Giving Day April 2026 WCS Wells Cathedral School Independent Prep Senior Sixth Form Somerset England

Giving Day

What a brilliant start to the Whitsun Term. Thank you for the incredible support shown across our inaugural Giving Day. Together, as a community, just under £66,000 has been raised for bursaries and our ‘wish list‘ projects. A total of 234 donors joined us, surpassing our target and including 26 gifts from our international community. It has been a pleasure to read the many messages of encouragement shared by donors, which can still be viewed on the Giving Day site.

Across the School, pupils and staff embraced the ‘Power of 909’ with energy and creativity, celebrating our heritage. From nine hands playing the piano at once, to dancers completing nine consecutive skills, science experiments measuring 909ml with precision, staff versus pupil Netball match (read more in our Sports Team of the Week!), and the whole community exceeding our 909km walking challenge by 80km. There has been a real sense of collective effort. Pre-Prep and Prep pupils have thoroughly enjoyed seeing staff take on the Giving Day forfeits, including this morning’s Bushtucker Trial, whilst also planting 909 seeds of hope and giving back to the community by visiting The Lawrence Centre. It has been an incredibly joyful and memorable few days, and a powerful reminder of what this community can achieve together.

Thank you to everyone who donated and took part. We are truly grateful for the generosity shown by alumni, parents, friends and family.
