New bass trombone for Brass Department
The Brass Department was incredibly excited to receive a brand new top-of-the-range bass trombone in the post from the USA. The instrument was generously donated to the school by Ian Bousfield, international soloist and former Principal Trombone of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, who says “getting the best education possible is of course incredibly important, but starting out on the best equipment can be crucial. It’s really important to me that the wonderful young people at Wells Cathedral School get the best possible grounding. This instrument is as good as it gets, and it fills me with joy to think of all the wonderful sounds that generations of young bass trombone players will discover because of it.” A huge thank you to Ian from everyone in the Brass Department – we can’t wait to hear it in action!
