About Us
Our aim is for you to develop your skills by offering world-class tutors and a nurturing environment set in an inspiring location – whilst having a fun time you won’t forget!
Our end of the week concerts give you a chance to shine for family and friends, but whilst we encourage everyone to take part in all performances and activities, we will not force anyone to participate if they don’t want to do so for whatever reason. However, we hope our friendly and accepting community will lead all musicians to take part, even if it is slightly outside of their normal comfort zone!
A Glimpse of Wells
Set in the heart of the medieval city of Wells, Wells Cathedral School’s beautiful backdrop has inspired generations of musicians throughout the ages. Wells is the smallest city in England and is surrounded by lovely countryside – quintessential England at its finest!
Participants will have the opportunity to explore Wells within teacher-led organised groups if they wish to.
Cedars Hall is our new state-of-the-art concert hall, which offers the latest in performing, recording and training rooms.
Vicars' Close dates back to the 14th century, and it is the oldest street in Europe with all the buildings intact. You'll find yourself walking along this lovely street to get to and from our Music School!
Our Music School with its own concert hall, Quilter Hall, has the appearance of a 15th century great hall, and you'll feel a special type of magic making music within its walls!
Our range of beautiful medieval and 18th century houses provide a warm, open friendly-style atmosphere. Each are set within their own garden and are adjacent to the main school campus. You'll reside in a twin room or small dormitory if you choose our residential option.
A couple minutes walk will take you to the bustling High Street in Wells, with a range of shops, cafes and even a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you are new to Wells, be sure to join one of our trips to see what it has to offer!
Home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for 800 years this stunning medieval palace is open for all to enjoy. Surrounded by a breathtaking moat you can cross a flagstone drawbridge, under the portcullis and experience a true hidden gem in the heart of the City of Wells.
The present Cathedral in Wells, started in 1180 and largely completed by 1306, is one of the most impressive cathedrals in Britain. It survives with all of the original buildings associated with the cathedral including Vicar's Close, the Chapter House and Cloisters. It has been described as "the most poetic of the English Cathedrals."

Food and Accommodation
Delicious food on offer
The school chefs provide three cooked meals a day (lunch and dinner are available for day participants), including a vegetarian option and salad bar in a modern, airy dining hall. Fruit is available throughout the day, and snacks and toast are available in the boarding houses.
Lovely accommodation
All of the boarding houses at Wells are beautiful medieval and eighteenth century buildings with lovely British gardens, stimulating communal areas and cosy rooms, in which each boarder has their own space with a locking cupboard for valuables. Whilst each of the houses is gifted with quirky and unique qualities befitting historic houses, they also have all the modern conveniences a boarder would expect – including wifi!
