    Dame Evelyn Glennie

(top image) Evelyn Glennie’s aim is to teach the world to listen. Despite her deafness, she has become perhaps the world’s most acclaimed percussionist, teaching herself to hear with parts of her body other than her ears, recording and performing her music barefoot. As host of the evening concert, she will inspire exceptional young players and celebrate their performances as the culmination of a day of percussion playing. Ever the performer, Evelyn hints that she might just be persuaded to join a couple of pieces herself.
