Project Description

Robert Walker, Bagpipes

Robert has over 55 years experience playing the Great Highland Bagpipe, having initially learned the art as a young boy before continuing his bagpipe education in the Armed Forces. Thereafter, he studied at the College of Piping in Glasgow where he was taught by world-class musicians from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

He has played and competed at the highest level, being a member of a Grade One Pipe Band in Scotland, winning numerous prizes, and playing twice at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. He has also travelled extensively throughout the UK and overseas attending a variety of events for royalty and senior dignitaries.

He is an avid and passionate teacher who is motivated to pass on his knowledge and skills to the next generation. In addition to teaching at Wells, he teaches the bagpipes to a number of private pupils, and previously, pupils from private schools in the Dorset area including Sherborne, Milton Abbey and Bryanston. All of his pupils have varying abilities, from complete beginners to those already playing bagpipes.
