Wells Brass Department Cements Partnership with Dean Close
Dean Close prep and senior schools invited Wells brass students to Cheltenham as part of their plan to encourage new pupils to start learning brass. The Wells musicians put on workshops for current brass pupils, ending the day with an early evening concert for Dean Close parents. It provided an ideal opportunity for Wells pupils to impress as performers as well as to learn facilitating and teaching skills.
The day was organised by the new head of brass at Dean Close, Hannah Bishop, who is an Old Wellensian trumpet specialist. Hannah left Wells to take up a scholarship at The Royal Academy in 2006.
Head of Dean Close, Bradley Salisbury, who was once one of the houseparents at Wells, found time out from his busy schedule to play his trombone in the mass blow rehearsal!
