Trombone Superstar

Old Wellensian trombonist, Mike Buchanan, returned to Wells last week to run an inspiring masterclass in Cedars Hall for aspiring brass musicians on Thursday morning, followed by a wonderful concert in the Eavis Hall on the Friday evening. Mike, current principal trombone of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and living in Austria, took time out of his busy international career to return ‘home’ and performed a stunning concert, accompanied by pianist Katarzyna Wieczorek, including music by Gershwin, Ravel and Bruch.
