Group of students on Geneva Trip

Geneva Exchange

At the end of March, ten Wells students travelled to Geneva for a week on the first leg of their French exchange with students from the Institut Florimont in Switzerland. Students spent the weekend with their Swiss families, returning to school on the Monday to attend lessons in French and English. Later in the week they went on excursions to the European headquarters of the United Nations, visited the old town, tried out the little Geneva train, enjoyed spectacular views from the top of St Peter’s Cathedral, and had a picnic in the Parc des Bastions. There was also a trip to Lausanne to visit the Olympic museum. Students had a great week and their Swiss partners could not wait to come and spend time in Somerset! They arrived two weeks later and Wells hosted a big BBQ and introduced the Swiss to the game of croquet. During their week here, the students visited Bristol, Bath and Longleat and had a private guided tour of the Bishop’s Palace. The exchange is always a great opportunity to discover new cultures, practise language skills and create new friendships, and there are already plans afoot for reciprocal visits amongst the students. Students are already looking forward to the next exchange, which will take place in October and December this year!
