Megan selected for England Hockey Diploma in Sporting Excellence

Congratulations to Year 12 student Megan, who has been selected by England Hockey to attend their DiSE (Diploma in Sporting Excellence) programme for 2018-2019. Megan was nominated following her selection for the Wessex Leopards U17 squad for Futures Cup.

The objective of the programme is to select players identified as high potential hockey players by England Hockey, and to develop an oversupply of players who have the potential to be world leading internationals, and can transition into the England U18, GB Elite Development and England U21 Programmes.

DiSE is funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and leads to a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence, 40 UCAS Points and an England Hockey Level 1 Umpiring qualification.

The 19 month programme has been tailored to fit in with study for A-levels, with the taught elements, portfolio work and camps completed during Year 12. Megan will be attending four residential camps as well as a four-day international tournament at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall in October, February, April and July 2019.

Between September 2019 and May 2020, Megan will be required to continue her hockey training and liaise with her tutor from Loughborough College to complete her qualification, as well as continuing with her technical and tactical development at the Bristol Performance Centre.
