Pre-Prep Pupils Go on a Bear Hunt
One of this week’s key themes for pupils in the Pre-Prep has been the much loved children’s story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Helen Oxenbury and Michael Rosen.
The beautifully illustrated tale was read and ‘signed’ in sign language to the children by Rebecca Allen at the start of the week, and the pupils have subsequently embraced all things bear-related!
Some have dressed up as bears, acted out the story themselves, made bear lairs and held teddy bears’ picnics for their toys. Others have drawn illustrations for the tale, created collages and made impressive bear artwork. Many pupils have taken a lot of pleasure in designing maps for their very own bear hunts and even made binoculars to take with them on bear-focused adventures in the outdoors. It has proven a great way to enjoy some physical exercise and make the most of the sunshine.
For others there has been bear yoga to try, as well as the opportunity to watch the animation on youtube, and re-read the wonderful story with family!
