Independent School of the Year for Performing Arts

We are delighted to have been chosen as Independent School of the Year 2020 for Performing Arts!

Wells secured the title, awarded by Independent School Parent Magazine, for “really living their philosophy of ‘Be what you can be’ [sic] through their elite and general programmes.”

Head Master, Alastair Tighe said, “This is such a fantastic achievement. It is truly wonderful that the efforts, commitment and talents of so many colleagues and pupils have been recognised in this way. It is a particular credit, of course, to the many staff and pupils, who are involved in the Performing Arts here directly. 

But this Award is for the whole School community. It recognises what each and everyone of us does to enable pupils to ‘become the best they can be’ in whatever field they aspire. And it recognises the widespread support we all give to the life of the Performing Arts at Wells in various ways, regardless of whether we are directly involved.

I am so proud of the emphasis we place on the Performing Arts at Wells as one sure way of enhancing the cultural, spiritual and well-being development of all our pupils. It is wonderful to have been recognised so publicly for this.”
