Chemistry Olympiad 2021 Successes

Congratulations to Upper Sixth pupil Oscar Purcell-Shirley, who has been awarded a Gold in this year’s UK Chemistry Olympiad, scoring in the top 2 percent of entrants.

Oscar is planning to study Chemistry at University, and after receiving successful offers from all five of his applications to Russell Group Universities, he is hoping to continue with his studies at Imperial College London.

Four other Upper Sixth pupils obtained Silver Awards: Wayne Chen, Serena Chung, Hector Gummer and Amelia Watson. Oisin Moriarty, in the Upper Sixth, obtained a Bronze Award.

Particular thanks to Chemistry teacher Mark Grinsell for preparing the pupils for this competition during the Chemistry enrichment sessions and to current Head of Chemistry, Fiona Robertson.
