Wells Bunting

Celebratory Community Bunting

The last year has been challenging for everyone and many villages and towns up and down the country have been using Community Art as a way to help and support each other.

The Wells Community Bunting Project has enabled the people of Wells and the surrounding villages to become involved in the local community and support others, by making and hanging 1.5 kilometres of bunting around the city centre.

Pupils and staff at Wells have been very involved in the project, with the School buildings on The Liberty, New Street and Quilter Hall all decorated with metres of colourful bunting, as well as many boarding houses and the Pre-Prep site.

Many in the community helped out hanging the bunting over the weekend and everyone involved has been delighted with the end result: the City of Wells festooned with bunting, and set to lift everyone’s spirits.

The official opening ceremony is taking place today, Monday 17th May, to coincide with the government’s staged lifting of lockdown restrictions.
