Shona, a pupil at our Independent School in Somerset, has been invested as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Cadet for Somerset

A High Honour for Shona

We are thrilled that Old Wellensian Shona M’Gadzah, who completed her A levels earlier this year, has been invested as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Cadet for Somerset for the coming year.

This hugely prestigious post recognises Shona’s many exceptional qualities, and will see her represent Her Majesty the Queen at official functions in Somerset and beyond.

Shona was invested at a special ceremony on 5 October which was also attended by Head Master Alastair Tighe and also Stuart Elks, Head of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) at Wells.

The official citation praised Shona’s “kind and empathetic nature”, her ability to teach and instruct others, her high standards of military dress, her leadership of parades, her willingness to learn new skills, and her academic achievements. It concluded:

“Cadet Warrant Officer Shona M’Gadzah’s impact in the Combined Cadet Force has been immeasurable… The breadth of Shona’s responsibilities across the school is a testament to her aspiration and popularity amongst her peers and the staff who teach her. She always leads by example and has been an outstanding role model this year during the Covid-19 pandemic. For her dedication and commitment, Cadet Warrant Officer Shona M’Gadzah has been invested as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Somerset.”
