Estates Team Visit Lord’s For Groundskeeping Advice
Members of our Estates team recently travelled to Lord’s Cricket Ground, also known as the Home of Cricket, to learn about groundskeeping techniques from Head Groundsman Karl McDermott.
Kindly organised by Karl, the group spent three and a half hours at the ground which has stood for over two hundred years, during which they were shown both the Nursery Ground and the Main Ground, followed by a tour of the facilities including the Pavilion, Media Centre and the newly built Compton and Edrich Stands. They were given the opportunity to listen to the Head Groundsman’s advice as well as ask insightful questions to improve their own groundskeeping techniques. They returned with new knowledge which they are excited to implement on our own beautiful cricket pitch.
We would like to thank Karl for his time and effort, and extend our gratitude to the Estates team as they strive to improve best practice here at Wells.
