School Celebrates Drama Successes

We have had lots of good news from our Drama department with pupils in Years 7, 9 and 10 successfully auditioning for a range of roles.

Congratulations to Oliver Jenkins (Year 7), whom you may have seen as Bruce in the School’s production of Matilda, on being cast as Colin in The Hordernciani’s production of The Secret Garden as part of the Wells Theatre Festival. He will perform in Cedars Hall from the 8th to the 10th of July as part of the festival.

Well done to Jessica Drysdale (Year 10) who has been chosen to take part in a combined theatre skills course at the Sylvia Young Theatre School this summer. Over the course of five days she will cover drama and audition technique, singing and microphone technique, street dance, jazz dance and basic circus skills. She will also have the option to take part in additional classes in singing, drama and jazz.

Congratulations to Noah Jennett-Butcher (Year 9), who played Nigel in the School’s production of Matilda, for his involvement in several acting pieces. He has successfully auditioned for the part of Dickon in The Secret Garden in The Hordernciani production for the Wells Theatre Festival which will see him perform alongside Oliver in Cedars Hall from the 8th to the 10th of July. He is also auditioning for Netflix series The Crown for which he is through to the next round of auditions and has been chosen to do an audio recording as the part of Peter in The Railway Children. On top of all of this he has performed in a short film for a final year undergraduate student, which you can view here:

Great work everyone!
