Robin Class Have Been Singing For The Brain!

Robin Class have been joining a local group called ‘Singing for the Brain’ run by Somerset Arts Well, a wonderful project which enables people living with dementia, memory problems and Parkinson’s Disease the opportunity to connect with their loved ones through music.

It was utterly joyful to see the adults’ faces light up as the children joined in with them singing the songs, playing the instruments and dancing to the music. Every single person in the room had a huge smile on their face and we were very lucky to have been a part of it. What’s more, a special collaborative Christmas album, ‘Remembering Christmas’, was recorded which has just been released on Bandcamp. There is a suggested donation of £5 for the CD/digital download and every penny raised will go towards improving the lives of people living with dementia in our community.

Emma Wheat from Somerset Arts Well spoke highly of our Reception children, commenting that; “The children of Robin Class brought such joy to our dementia singing group, they absolutely lit up the room with their enthusiasm and energy! Watching the older and younger generations interact was incredibly special and through the recording, you’ll hear little snapshot of the heartwarming magic that was created.

Somerset Arts Well spoke about Singing for the Brain and the ‘Remembering Christmas’ album on BBC Radio Breakfast which you can listen to here (from 2:25:00 to 2:31:00).
