Sports ‘Week of Teams’
The Sports Department love sharing their Sports Team of the Week in our weekly This Week in Wells newsletter, but have been so impressed by the wide variety of sports showcased and the commitment from pupils this week that they felt there should be a “Week of Teams” celebration too! No less than 13 Netball teams represented the School with some great performances this weekend, while Hockey was in full flow with 6 teams playing including the 3rd XI on debut and an U13 eleven-a-side team, plus a Rugby 7s tournament on top of a Badminton tournament. Two U12 teams took part in a mid-week Netball tournament and the U14 Boys competed in the Hockey County Tournament while the U12 and U13 teams played home games, and the 1st XI took part in round three of the National Cup. The Basketball 1st team played an action-packed game against Downside School, walking off the court triumphantly having clinched victory in the final throes of a game that was 30-30 at full time, 34-34 at extra time and 2-1 in the best of five free throws! Last but by no means least, the School hosted a swimming gala for the first time which was hugely successful and thrilling to the end!
Everyone in the Sports Department is so grateful to all of the pupils who took part and did their best, and would like to extend their thanks to the dedicated parents and supporters and to the fantastic Catering Department who prepare packed teas and look after everyone so well following home fixtures.
