Musical Extravaganza
The first Musical Extravaganza of the year was a triumph.
A full Cedars Hall heard a huge range of music showcasing pupils across the whole Senior School (and even a few Prep School players); from full orchestra (Sinfonietta) performing Mendelssohn and Albeniz to our massed Percussion Ensemble entertaining with a medley of dance tunes from the 80s and 90s! The Years 7-9 Choir sang and signed movingly in Chilcott’s Can You Hear Me? and there were notable solos from Charlie Temmink (Upper Sixth) and Kai Orton (Year 10) from the Barbers. It was lovely to hear classic string orchestra repertoire (Holst’s St Paul’s Suite) programmed next to a fabulous arrangement of Jobim’s The Girl from Ipanema. The Symphonic Wind Band were in full force playing highlights from Encanto and the Jazz Ensemble brought the house down with their full sound and very impressive saxophone lineup.
