Prep School pianists at Taunton Festival of the Arts
Charlotte (Year 4) and Soho (Year 5) competed at the Taunton Festival of the Arts on Tuesday 30th January.
We are pleased to share that Charlotte won the first prize of the Piano Solo Grade 6 class, and first prize in the 10 Years and Under class! Many congratulations Charlotte. Miss Lesley, Charlotte’s tutor, commented, “I am so proud of Charlotte; it’s a real joy to see her piano playing progress, and her competition success shows how hard she works and what a wonderful talent she has as our youngest member of the ‘Specialist Musician’ programme. We always talk about our CARE values in the Prep School (Creativity, Aspiration, Responsibility and Endeavour), and it’s fantastic to see Prep School pupils reflecting these both in and out of School.”
Mrs Gibson, Soho’s tutor, commented on his performance, “Soho’s piano playing continues to go from strength to strength and it is a joy to be able to celebrate his success with him. I was so pleased to see him excel in so many classes as I know how much time and effort he puts into his practice and this has been justly rewarded at the Taunton Festival of the Arts in which Soho won first place. He received the Bach Shield in the ‘Any Piece by JS Bach’ section, as well as four medals and outstanding scores in all classes; Any Piece by a 20th Century Composer, Open Solo (no age limit), Any Piece from a Current Graded Syllabus (no age limit) and Grade 8. Congratulations Soho.”
