Trombonist John Kenny visits Wells

Trombonist John Kenny visited Wells to perform the UK premiere of Echoes of the Ancients, a piece written by composer Lior Rosner (X-Men, Game of Thrones) to showcase ancient brass instruments the celtic Carnyx and Roman Cornu. John Kenny has performed on the Deskford Carnyx (pictured) since its first reconstruction and gave a wonderfully informative talk on the instrument to pupils in Music Seminar. The piece was then performed (with John Kenny and Laetitia Stott as soloists) as part of the first of three Promenade Concerts in Wells Cathedral.
