Delight at university and conservatoire offers
Pupils in the Upper Sixth have been thrilled to receive and confirm offers from universities and music colleges across the UK this winter. Given how increasingly competitive it is, we are delighted that once again a number of Wells pupils have been successful in their applications to Oxford and Cambridge and have received offers to study History, Music and Physics.
In addition, pupils have so far received over 120 offers from other Russell Group and other top UK universities – including St Andrews, Sheffield, Bristol and Durham – to study a wide range of subjects from Anthropology to Ecology, Modern Languages to Psychology. There were also successful applications in Social Work, Rural Property Management and Filmmaking. Several pupils have received multiple offers, including in Environmental Science, English Literature and other subjects that are highly competitive. As always, the extraordinary variety of subjects reflects both the breadth and exceptional quality of the Sixth Form in Wells, where pupils excel in many different subjects.
For pupils choosing the music college route, as every year, there have been a large number of stunning successes. Wells musicians have received over 90 offers to continue their studies at the UK’s top conservatoires including the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Most applicants have received multiple offers, and many have been offered major scholarships. A number of musicians are applying to top US conservatoires and are awaiting auditions there.
These offers are testament to the hard work and dedication of these pupils who have very bright futures ahead. Congratulations and best of luck to them all.
