Hera Hyesang Park opera residency

One of the finest young stars of the opera world, soprano Hera Hyesang Park spent a weekend in Cedars Hall on her way between engagements at The Met in New York and Amsterdam.

In addition to performing two concerts to an ecstatic audience, she also worked with School singers (including Lydia (Upper Sixth), pictured).

Head of Vocal Studies, Christopher Finch was thrilled with her visit, and comments, “Having an extraordinary soprano like Hera at Wells is an amazing coup and we are incredibly grateful for her generosity and inspirational teaching and singing. Our pupils really related to her and her visit could have a life-changing influence on some of these young musicians.”

Hera’s first performance with pianist James Baillieu featured popular Italian opera arias and some intriguing South Korean song.

Director of Music Alex Laing – who also conducted a brief interview on stage with her – said that Hera’s recital was one of the greatest performances he had ever heard in Cedars Hall.
