Alice Farnham conducting masterclass
Pupil conductors had the wonderful experience of working with Alice Farnham, professional conductor and the Artistic Director of Women Conductors, on Monday 26th February.
Six pupils, along with a number of observers, worked with her as a group in the morning, and then one-to-one in the afternoon, on repertoire they have been preparing from Tchaikovsky ballet suites. Alice also worked with all the specialist musicians in an afternoon seminar, where she inspired our pupils, discussed the life and profession of a conductor, and got everyone playing conducting charades! The evening session saw our pupils taking turns in conducting the school Symphony Orchestra in the same repertoire by Tchaikovsky with Alice’s expert guidance.
We have such gratitude for the invaluable experience the day was for our pupils and huge congratulations for the hard work and bravery of our conductors in preparing to stand up in front of a sea of their colleagues.
