Intermediate Mathematics Challenge 2024
In February, 98 pupils from Years 9, 10 and 11 sat this year’s Intermediate Mathematics Challenge, a 60 minute problem-solving multiple choice test designed to stretch pupils’ mathematical thinking. The top 10% of achievers were awarded Gold Certificates by the UK Mathematics Trust, and we are pleased to share that 11 of our pupils achieved this standard.
In addition, 15 pupils were awarded Silver Certificates and 27 were awarded Bronze Certificates. Particular congratulations must go to Kai (Year 10) for the highest score in the School, Nathan for the highest score in Year 11 and Enzo for the highest score in Year 9.
Eight pupils have been invited to take part in the follow-on round, sitting the Intermediate Kangaroo paper towards the end of the Lent Term.
Furthermore, following a good performance in the Senior Mathematics Challenge last November, OW Sam Prichard (2019) was invited to sit the challenging Senior Kangaroo paper just before the end of the Advent Term. Sam was placed among the top 25% of scorers from over 4,000 entrants, and was awarded a Certificate of Merit.
