Composers’ Orchestra Workshop
Wednesday 24th April saw the annual Composers’ Orchestral Workshop where selected pupils have the rare opportunity of writing pieces for full Symphony Orchestra and having them performed by the School Orchestra.
This year James, Defne, Eva (Upper Sixth) and Kieran (Lower Sixth) wrote spellbinding pieces entitled ‘Vικάω Upon Valleys’ (Kieran), ‘Hugo’ (Eva), ‘Auk-Kestral Peace’ (James) and ‘Artemis and Ephesus’ (Defne). The Orchestra had great fun rehearsing and recording these pieces and it was wonderful to hear them playing with all the vitality that the composers had injected into their work.
A huge thanks to Paul Whitmarsh who not only guided the pupils through the compositional process but also led the workshop and rehearsed the Orchestra with such detail and authority.
What an amazing experience for these young composers!
