Bunbury Cricket Festival WCS Wells Cathedral School Independent Prep Somerset England

Bunbury Cricket Festival

While the School closed for the bank holiday on Monday, Cedars Field welcomed Team South & West, the top U15 cricketers from across the south and west of England, for the annual Bunbury Cricket Festival.

The tournament is the first stage of the ECB’s Player Pathway to the England cricket team; since its conception in 1987, over 90 players have gone on to play for England, including former captains Michael Vaughan, Andrew Flintoff and Joe Root. Ten of the eleven players in the winning 2019 Cricket World Cup Final team began their journey at the Bunbury Festival, so we are delighted to be the regional team’s home ground this year and look forward to seeing what will undoubtedly be the future of English cricket play in further fixtures at Wells this summer.
