Junior Mathematics Challenge 2024 WCS Wells Cathedral School Independent Prep Somerset England

Junior Mathematics Challenge 2024

In April, 54 pupils from Years 7 and 8 and seven pupils from the Prep School sat this year’s Junior Mathematics Challenge, a 60 minute problem-solving multiple choice test designed to stretch pupils’ mathematical thinking.

The top 10% of achievers are awarded Gold Certificates by the UK Mathematics Trust – we are pleased to say that four pupils achieved this standard!

In addition, 17 pupils were awarded Silver Certificates and 12 were awarded Bronze Certificates. Three pupils have been invited to take part in the follow-on rounds, sitting either the Junior Kangaroo or Junior Olympiad paper in June.

Particular congratulations to Zino (Year 8) for being the Highest Scorer in School, Shanna for being the Highest Scorer in Year 7, Michael and Cameron (Year 8) for winning Gold Certificates and Celine, who received a Silver Certificate as the Highest Scorer in Year 6.
